Privacy Policy
BuddhaGang is a Buddhist community website and app. We collect the information needed to run accounts, posts, comments, chat, donations, notifications, Dharma tools, and safety/moderation systems.
Information we collect
- Account information such as username, display name, email address, profile details, avatar, and verification status.
- Community content you choose to share, including posts, comments, reactions, chat messages, profile text, and Dharma practice/onboarding answers.
- Donation and subscription metadata from Stripe, such as checkout status, customer identifiers, plan level, and receipt status. Full payment card details are handled by Stripe, not BuddhaGang.
- Social sign-in information if you choose to use it, such as provider-scoped user IDs, name, email address, private relay status, and the provider used. For Sign in with Apple, we may store an encrypted Apple refresh token only so BuddhaGang can ask Apple to revoke authorization during account deletion.
- Facebook, Instagram, and Threads connection details if you choose to connect those accounts. We do not store long-term Meta access tokens for normal BuddhaGang app login.
- Technical information such as IP address, user agent, device/browser details, logs, cookies, and local analytics used to protect the site and understand what is working.
How we use information
- To create and secure your account.
- To show community content, profiles, comments, chat, notifications, Dharma Cards, readings, and related features.
- To process donations and recurring support.
- To prevent spam, abuse, fraud, and security problems.
- To improve BuddhaGang, including reviewed training and feedback flows for bgAI where clearly surfaced.
Ask BuddhaGang and AI improvement
Ask BuddhaGang is a review-first service, not an instant chatbot. Raw submissions, unfinished research, and unreviewed model drafts are not used as training examples. After BuddhaGang approves or edits a response, a de-identified copy of the reviewed question and final answer may be used to improve bgAI and bgScout. Account, thread, request, and delivery identifiers are removed, obvious personal identifiers are redacted, and an interaction is skipped when it cannot be de-identified with confidence. Ask material is not added to personal runtime memory.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to run BuddhaGang, such as hosting, email, Stripe, analytics, app infrastructure, and security tools, or when legally required.
